Taking a pit stop

Hey all,

I came down with a nasty cold, so posts will be slim - if not downright nonexistent - this week. Any posts that I guaranteed to be up on a certain date will go live as specified, but otherwise, I'm just going to take it easy and try to get over this as soon as possible.

I'd love to say this means I will be reading like a fiend - but so far, this cold is the "makes you too exhausted to do anything but sleep" kind of thing, so I think I'll be napping more than anything.

And for anyone that caught it - can you tell I'm currently reading the Driven series by K. Bromberg? Book three can't arrive fast enough.

I'll be back to posting like usual as soon as I'm able to breathe normally again. Stupid colds.

Happy Reading!

Review: QUANTUM by Jess Anastasi!

Type: Futuristic, Science Fiction, Romance, Aliens, Space, Are you or aren't you an alien?!

My Review: This is a new to me author, and I'm so glad I got the chance to read this book. I didn't even know I was craving some futuristic fiction, but this book definitely hit the spot. I was definitely hooked from the very first page - author Jess Anastasi certainly doesn't pull any punches. In the very beginning, Zander is being attacked, in the bathroom no less.  I'm not the biggest futuristic fan, I'll admit it. But it's hard not to love something that jumps right into the action. I also have to applaud the author for her ability to drag the reader into the setting. With a world so different from our own, sometimes it's hard to find the perfect balance between making everything seem natural, and yet explaining just how it's all different. But this author nails it. At no point did I feel confused or unsure - and that's definitely something to celebrate!

I also have to say just how much I loved the characters. While the setting and story were wonderful, it was the characters that really sucked me into the story. They felt genuine, and I legitimately cared about their safety, what they had to do, etc. Story lines and settings are very important, of course, but it's really the characters that keep me coming back for more. I have to know what's going to happen to them. So kudos to author Jess Anastasi for making me add more characters to my "fictional friends" pile!

Cover Lovin': Simple and sweet, thumbs up!

Recommendation: For futuristic romance lovers, of course.

Final Rating: FOUR out of FIVE stars (4/5)! A great read! Thrilling from (quite literally!) the first page.

Disclaimer: I received a free copy in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Today we have the blog tour for Quantum by Jess Anastasi! Check it out and grab your copy of this great new romance today! Quantum BT banner Quantum Synopsis: Quantum-500 Someone wants Captain Admiral Zander Graydon dead. Like yesterday. Zander’s convinced his attractive assistant knows more than she’s willing to say, and if he can stop running long enough, he’ll find out exactly what she’s hiding. Lieutenant Marshal Mae Petros is determined to keep her CO safe. Before she tips her hand, however, Mae has to figure out if the alluring man she’s protecting is the real Captain Admiral Graydon. Or an alien shape-shifting imposter.   On the run and no one to trust…not even each other.   Captain Admiral Zander Graydon has seen a lot of action, but almost getting killed three times in one day is pushing it. Only the company of his new assistant, Lieutenant Marshal Mae Petros, makes things a little easier to swallow. Except the delectable Lieutenant Marshal Petros is hiding a number of secrets, and her presence might have something to do with the continued attempts on his life.   It’s no accident Lieutenant Marshal Mae Petros finds herself in the firing line alongside the charming but very off-limits Captain Admiral Graydon. She’s taken the job as the admiral’s assistant to determine if a shape-shifting alien has killed the CO and assumed his form. Whether the admiral is human or not, Mae finds herself getting way too close to him as they run for their lives.   Military to the core, Mae and Zander will have to overcome their suspicions of each other to work together, when they realize the fate of the entire universe is at stake. Though her messy handwriting made it hard for anyone else to read them, she wasn’t deterred and now she gets to make up stories for a living. She loves loud music, a good book on a rainy day, and probably spends too much time watching too many TV shows. Jess lives in regional Victoria, Australia, with her very supportive husband, three daughters, two hyper-active border collie dogs, and one cat who thinks he’s one of the kids.
